The excitement around AI is well-deserved—it’s transforming our work, revolutionizing data access, and introducing unprecedented capabilities. But, let’s not overlook the foundational element driving these innovations: data.
AI and LLMs (Large Language Models) are only as powerful as the data that trains and fuels them. Without robust, accessible data, the advancements we’re seeing might not be sustainable.
It’s thrilling to witness companies rapidly integrating AI to achieve remarkable outcomes. Yet, have these companies also secured their data future? What happens to their AI capabilities if data access becomes restricted or unavailable?
From my experience in the data space, I’ve seen many assume access to restricted data is a given, often overlooking licensing terms. We’re already seeing legal battles over data usage rights, and I anticipate these regulations will tighten, limiting “free use” of licensed data for third-party AI.
If data is the “new oil”, then what is your company doing to secure the oil needed to run your AI capabilities. If the answer is nothing, I’d encourage you rethink this approach.
